    A message from Dave Smith

On June 21st, 2008 the neighborhood sponsored a ‘Beautify Everything in Santa Teresa (BEST) Showcase’, where people opened their homes to show off their talents, passions, and landscaping. Thanks to the many people who helped make this a successful day! We raised several thousand dollars for our scholarship(s).  VIEW PHOTOS »

    Sponsors of the event included:

    • Angie Cocke, Realtor
    • Tim Ryan, Realtor
    • Ney Montenegro, Realtor
    • Almaden Nursery
    • My Pool and Spa
    • Visionary Signs & Graphics
    • David Castillo-Farmers Insurance
    • Mark & Jordania Harwood

In addition to the Sponsors listed here, many graciously open their properties and helped with other projects. I hesitate to list people because I invariably forget someone, but I must mention our Showcasers Mark and Jordania Harwood (who also are donating $1,000.00).

The following people Showcased special places, Bob Shoemaker (Hawaiian ponds), Judge Family (hillside views and roses), Harwood Family (pool, waterfalls, Koi ponds), Pat Smith (Waterfalls, rosebushes), Larry Benson (succulents, hillside), David and Linda Castillo (music and hillside), Manuel and Patty Robles (pool, professional landscaper), Dr. Singh (hillside and contributor), Robert Gutierez and the band Strong Coffee and Gary Sutton of Circle of Neighbors College Planning.

In addition, Lorna Maynard, Mike Bosworth, Jacqueline Price, Phyllis Chai, and John Hesler worked the booth. Lynne Paulson took photos which will be available at the general meeting. I apologize to all I forgot.

We are now forming the committee to determine standards, qualifications and award the scholarships. If you would like to be on this committee let me know. Looks like now more than ever college bound students need our help.  Donations to the scholarship are also welcome!

As BEST events are planned, they’ll be posted on the website, so plan to visit us often!
