Adopt A Park

Are you taking one bag at a time? Or are you one who takes 10 or even 20 and stock pile?  City officials monitoring our area for maintenance have indicated that one of the first “perks” to go in our neighborhoods due to budget cuts will be the maintaining of our doggy dispensers.

Let’s use our dispensers wisely by only taking 1 bag at a time and trying to use our own bags when we leave the house as much as possible. This will allow our existing inventory (which probably will not be restocked)

To last as long as possible.  If you have any questions, please contact: Jacqueline_price@mindspring.com or 408-226-8679

Volunteers Needed to Help with Adopted Parks

Community members are needed to help with 2 neighborhood parks that Santa Teresa Foothills Neighborhood Association has adopted through the City's Adopt-a-Park program:
Century Oaks Park (corner of Snell and Colleen)
Foothill Park (corner of Foothill and Cahalan)
The purpose of this program is to protect and enhance San Jose's neighborhood parks and open spaces. We organize several events to help with park cleanup and planting. Help is needed with picking up litter, sweeping, weeding and checking sprinklers. Bring your own gloves, garden tools. Trash bags will be provided. Check back on our website for cleanup events.

STFNA Adopt A Park contact: Lynne at 408.226.3521 or email indiajane@sbcglobal.net.

You can also help on your own schedule by signing up as an Adopt-a-Park volunteer. Volunteers care for their adopted area in the following ways: picking up litter, removing graffiti, sweeping courts and pathways, pulling weeds, raking leaves, and reporting park hazards. To Volunteer, fill out a Volunteer Service Agreement Form.  Click here to download and print this form, then mail it to:

    Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services

    San Jose, CA 95123

    Or, fax it to: 408.292.6435

*Please Note: Upon receiving adoption forms, staff will contact the group contact person to schedule a training on site (at the park/trail).
